Texas Clash Bash

Last Saturday the Texas Amateur Association presented their inaugural card titled, “Texas Clash Bash” which featured 18 fighters looking to sharpen their skills before they make the jump to the professional ranks. The event was hosted at the Richard Borchard Fairgrounds in Robstown which is about 20 minutes outside of Corpus Christi. The “Texas Clash Bash” attendance was decent but the crowd was hot and rocking all night long for their local favorites. The valley was also represented well by CincoMMA prospect, Enrique Cardona, who finished his opponent in only :42 in the first round. Cardona was just too much for his opponent has he rained down shots as his opponent was in the turtle position.

One of the most impressive fighters I saw at Texas Clash was  Moises Murillo who showed great skill in the cage and on the mic in his debut. As soon as the bell rang, his opponent came in throwing strikes but Murillo was just too quick as he dodged every single shot thrown his way- I don’t think he got hit once from his opponent’s flurry. Once Murillo closed the distance, he locked on to his opponent and pulled of a Northern lights suplex which lead to the submission victory at the 1:50 mark of the first round. After the fight, Murillo took the mic and cut a great promo ensuring other promotions that he is a great addition to any card and if they want excitment to call him. It was great. I look forward to seeing how his career pans out because from what I saw, he has great potential.

Another prospect who has potential to be a force is Jacob Landin(2-2) out of San Antonio, Texas. He’s an nice striking and ground game which helped him get the submission victory in the first round over Manuel Hernandez. Landin showed great respect for his opponent to the point where he was asking someone in the crowd to take a picture of the two together. It was a great thing to see.

There was a ton of talent on display at Texas Clash but these three fighters stuck out of the pact. Each fighter had their own personality and skillset that they could bring to any promotion when they turn pro so keep an eye out for them in the future.
