After several main event changes that eventually lead to a scratched main event(Eli Rodriguez broke his hand) and a fighter no showing the weigh-in, STFC 46 presented six exciting fights that saw plenty of finishes, new talent rise and the ongoing dominance of Victor Martinez in STFC. The results and the recorded commentary courtesy of G-Multi Media can be found below. Before moving on we should talk about the elephant in the room.
On Saturday afternoon STFC promoter Raul Ramos posted an ominous message to the fans of STFC about the future of the promotion. There wasn’t a lot of details given with the exception that this event was the worse drawing show in the promotion’s history. Ramos mentioned that it was even considered to cancel the show probably from the main event changes and the underwhelming low ticket sales but decided to move on to honor their deals with their sponsors and the fighters. Ramos went on to mention that the future of the promotion is uncertain but they will try to keep moving forward.
For 10 years STFC has been providing Valley fighters a platform to showcase their skills and Valley MMA fight fans a chance to see some great MMA action without traveling north. In those 10 years, they have helped produce UFC, Bellator, and Combate Americas fighters. They have also given us(photographers and blogger(s)) the opportunity to sharpen our skills on a sport that we are passionate for. Let us not forget that they also provided HEROFC and UFW promotions established fighters with star power that they used to sell their events.
It would be a great loss to not only the Valley MMA community but to the Valley if STFC were to ride off into the sunset. I’m hopeful that they will carry on, maybe on a smaller scale, but there is some internal evaluation that needs to be done to see if it’s even worth the financial risk.
