In the latest WON Dave Meltzer has released the rumored female contestants for the upcoming season of “The Ultimate Fighter 18: Ronda vs Zingano”. this season will be carried by the new FOX Sports 1 network which i believe might be the reason this show might not do so well in the ratings. This would be the third channel The Ultimate Fighter has been hosted on.
Here is the list of fighters:
Revelina Berto (3-1) – Sister of Boxer Andre Berto. Their father actually fought in a UFC prelim match in 1996 losing to Geza Kalman and was also a professional wrestler in the 80’s in Florida. Revelina is 23 years old and with her name could be a long standing fighter for the company.
Peggy Morgan (2-0) – Undefeated and rumored to be the tallest woman on the roster standing at just an inch above 6 feet.
Colleen Schneider (4-4) – 31 year old fighter who has one fight in Strikeforce.
Jessamyn Duke (2-1) – 26 year old fitness model who has fought all her fights in Invicta. If she burns out in the MMA, she could always switch to pro wrestling where WWE officials just love fitness models.
Bethany Marshall (4-1) – 24 year old who has been training Muay Thai and grappling since she was 16.0
Valerie Letourneau (4-3) – 30 year old Maple Leaf who turned pro in 2006 and has been training since the age of 15. Trains at Tri Star Gym with GSP and Rory MacDonald.
Ashlee Evans-Smith (1-0) – is cutting down weight to make the show from 145. Most of her fights have been for the Las Vegas based Tuff N Nuff.
Gina Mazany (3-0) – Debuted in 2008 as a 145 pounder and is also making the cut to 135.
Julianna Pena (4-2) – A former 125 pounder who is making the move up.
Katie Merrill (1-1) – Not much information on this fighter
Marcia Allen (3-1) – She likes to holds people hair as she punches them is the only information I have about her.
Tara LaRosa (21-3) – A 11 year veteran that is still going strong at the age of 35. Very impressive record and could be one of the early favorites of the show.
Roxanne Modafferi (15-10) – 30 year old who has done most of her fighter in the land of the rising sun.
Tonya Evinger (11-6) – A U.S amateur wrestler and an openly gay fighter who once fought Carano and stated that she didn’t know if she wanted to punch Carano or kiss her.
Lia Mata’afa (0-0) – Nepotism is not absent on this show. Lia is the sister-in-law of former TUF winner Kendall Grove. With that said, she is a two-time state champion , played Rugby at Boston University and is a member of the American Samoan national rugby team. Oh, she also missed out on the 2012 Olympics placing 5th in the qualify meet. She certianly has the credentials and could be the breakout star of this show. Even if she doesn’t win the whole thing I don’t see UFC letting her walk away without a contract. They are going to need some woman on their roster.
Raquel Pennington (3-3) – Has a win over Kim Couture who still has the surname of her former husband, Randy Couture. Pennington is a Invicta regular and is coming off a two fight losing streak.
Shayna Baszler (15-8) – Training under Josh Barnett and certified as the only Catch-as-Can female wrestler under Billy Robinson it should not surprise anyone that she has won 14 of her fights by submission. The 32 year old grappling specialist is also a roller derby coach. Tough woman.
